In 2024, Canadian Lithuanian dentists and philanthropists Angel\u0117 and Sigitas Kazlauskas<\/strong> donated an estate worth nearly \u20ac5 million to the Vilnius University Foundation. Using the majority of these funds, the Angel\u0117 and Sigitas Kazlauskas Endowment Sub-fund<\/strong><\/a> was established, and the returns on its investments are used to finance named awards and scholarships.<\/p>\n

ANGEL\u0116 AND SIGITAS KAZLAUSKAS NAMED SCHOLARSHIP<\/strong><\/p>\n

On 23 September 2025 was approved the regulations for the Angel\u0117 and Sigitas Kazlauskas Named Scholarships<\/strong> of to be allocated to the students of the VU Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry Study Programme (in Lithuanian only). These lay down the selection criteria, the procedure for the allocations and the payment of scholarships to candidates.<\/p>\n

Dental students from years 1 to 5 are eligible for this EUR 1,000<\/strong> scholarship for their academic achievements based on their study results for the previous year. Having received the scholarship will not prevent the student from competing for it during the following year. Moreover, a student who received this scholarship will be also able to compete for other state, national or other kinds of scholarships. More information.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

ANGEL\u0116 AND SIGITAS KAZLAUSKAS NAMED AWARD<\/strong><\/p>\n

On September 20, 2025, the Council of the VU Faculty of Medicine approved the regulations under which scientific activities at the Institute of Dentistry will be financed through the awarding of the Angel\u0117 and Sigitas Kazlauskas Named Awards<\/strong>. Scientists, researchers and students wishing to receive the Angel\u0117 and Sigitas Kazlauskas Named Award will be able to submit applications for planned scientific activities, which will be examined by a commission of experts.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Every year in June, the VU Faculty of Medicine website will announce how many applications are planned to be financed in a specific year, and what is the maximum amount of funding that can be allocated to one activity.<\/p>\n

Applications for student research activities must be submitted jointly with a research supervisor. Funding is awarded to scientists, researchers, and students<\/strong> whose planned activities meet the established requirements, i.e., when a national or international research project or its continuation is being prepared, an innovative research idea is being developed with the aim of participating in national and\/or international consortia or addressing relevant problems, or when another research project is being implemented that is important for the strategic areas of the VU MF Institute of Dentistry and for the development of dental science.
