Vilnius University Life Sciences Center<\/strong> (VU LSC) introduces its Endowment Sub-fund<\/strong> and invites the public, its partners and friends as well as the Alumni community to contribute to the education of the next generation of life science professionals by donating online.<\/p>\n

VU LIFE SCIENCES CENTER<\/h4>\n

Established in 2016<\/strong>, VU Life Sciences Center is home to three academic branches that take part in joint activities: the Institutes of Biochemistry<\/strong>, of Biotechnology<\/strong> and of Biosciences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In 2020, Director General of the elite European Molecular Biology Laboratory<\/strong> (EMBL) Prof.\u202fEdith Heard signed an agreement with Vilnius University on the establishment of a Partnership Institute in the Life Sciences Center of VU. The Center has strengthened research, studies and technological advance in the fields of biochemistry<\/strong>, biotechnology<\/strong>, molecular biology<\/strong>, genetics<\/strong>, neurobiology<\/strong>, molecular medicine<\/strong> and related areas.<\/p>\n

It is a new and innovative center possessing modern laboratory equipment and top-level scientific research services. VU Life Sciences Center has 24<\/strong> fully equipped rooms, 10<\/strong> trainee scientific laboratories, 3<\/strong> computer rooms, 23<\/strong> modern open access laboratories, also places for individual studies. The Center is open to scientific events in the fields of life and physical sciences, biotechnologies, innovations, higher education policy and STEAM<\/strong> education.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

ENDOWMENT SUB-FUND<\/h4>\n

VU Life Sciences Center Endowment Sub-fund is a sustainable and intelligent<\/b>\u00a0finance management model, where the received funds are invested in various asset classes and the\u00a0return on investment<\/b> is allocated annually to the needs of the center.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\n

VU Foundation’s investment strategy is in line with the best international practice: diversified financial instruments; risk management; investing in a global market. The Sub-fund\u2019s capital is invested <\/b>together with the main Fund\u2019s capital. An allocation ratio of 2.5% (or individually agreed) is used to calculate the annual payout to VU Life Sciences Center. The part of the investment gain that exceeds the payout is reinvested.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Because of reinvesting<\/b>, the value of the Sub-fund will grow exponentially <\/b>over the years. Check out the simulation below on how the initial capital of EUR 100,000 will grow over the next 100 years and what return it will bring to VU Life Sciences Center.<\/div>\n

The return on investment of the VU LSF Sub-fund will be allocated to strengthen the its strategic priorities: (1) to become an integral part of the European life sciences community<\/strong>: to carry out internationally competitive science and studies; (2) to strengthen the potential of Lithuanian life sciences<\/strong>: to contribute to the development of the life sciences ecosystem in the country; (3) to motivate the Life Sciences Center community<\/strong>: to improve working and study conditions.<\/p>\n
