The Vilnius University Song and Dance Ensemble (VU Ensemble) is the oldest student folk ensemble in Lithuania, celebrating its 85th anniversary in 2025!
To mark this special occasion, the VU Ensemble invites you to contribute to the anniversary celebration by offering a symbolic donation. Your support will help the ensemble continue its creative journey and preserve its legacy in various meaningful forms.
Rooted in long-standing traditions yet expressing them with a modern and unique touch – this is the VU Ensemble of today.
This year, the VU Ensemble is preparing new artistic concert programs and special showcase events across Lithuania to mark its 85th anniversary. In October, the first photography exhibition in the Ensemble’s history, “Woven” (“Suausti”), will be unveiled.
Two major jubilee concerts are planned in Vilnius: in May, concert “Susirišimai” brought the warmth of spring, and on November 28 concert “Vilniaus miesto balti bromai” will crown this memorable year at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre.
The central theme of the jubilee year is people, their bonds, and the city of Vilnius. Over the decades, the ensemble has been shaped by countless creative young individuals. Their love for folk art still resonates with today’s members, who continue to cherish and preserve traditions passed down through generations.
Vilnius takes on a symbolic role this year – as a gateway for all Lithuanians and guests, as the birthplace of the ensemble, and as the city through which every past and present ensemble’s member has walked.

The creation and professional recording of new artistic works.
A commemorative marker honoring the ensemble’s legacy in the city of Vilnius.
The development and implementation of creative projects dedicated to preserving and promoting folk art.
Technical enhancements that will enable more engaging and modern presentations of new concert programs.
Throughout its 85 years of activity, the VU Ensemble has continued to spread its artistic vision, growing creatively and constantly seeking new forms of expression.
