Thank You For a Remarkable Year: 2024 in Review

The year 2024 was truly remarkable for us. We feel that over the past year, the the Foundation has doubled not only in financial terms but also in social capital. Genuine support is a clear sign of trust in Vilnius University. The patrons of the VU Foundation believe that a strong higher education system is the foundation of a nation’s development.

The year was marked by historical legacies and the expansion of new and existing sub-funds. From significant support for dentistry, laser physics, and life sciences to funding research on the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and a special focus on philology. Distinguished professionals joined the core of the VU Foundation, and the community of supporters grew to more than 4K people.

In 2024, the amount allocated to fund VU projects and initiatives from investment returns and targeted donations exceeded €1.6 million. The value of the Foundation’s portfolio, once existing commitments from supporters are fulfilled, will soon reach €10 million, with an annual investment return of approximately €1.5 million.
