2025 at the Vilnius University Foundation: Historic Donation and Many Firsts

2025 was a year full of historic achievements and numerous firsts. We extend special thanks to Swedbank for their €10 million philanthropic contribution. The named ‘Swedbank Sub-Fund for the Promotion of Sustainable, Long-Term Country Advancement’ is a historic investment in knowledge, innovation, and Lithuania’s future.

This year, for the first time, we presented named awards and scholarships honoring Angelė and Sigitas Kazlauskas, Prof. Algis Petras Piskarskas, Prof. Jonas Kazlauskas, and Mantvydas Juozapavičius. Using investment returns and targeted support, we funded talented researchers, exciting studies, and community initiatives. Since 2018, funding allocated to Vilnius University has exceeded €2.1 million.

In 2025 alone, we received €11.4 million in support, of which €10.8 million was allocated by donors to the endowment fund and its sub-funds, and the remaining €0.6 million to targeted projects and Foundation development. This year, the Foundation was supported over 1,100 times. Behind every euro of support stands a generous community of people who believe in the power of education and science. We are deeply grateful to you.
