VU Kaunas Faculty Ambassador Day Celebrates Its Most Active Community Students

On 25 March, the Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius University (VU) community gathered for Ambassador Day, organised by the Public Relations Group. During the event, communication specialist Kamilė Bakevičiūtė presented the activities of the Ambassador Programme, highlighted students’ contributions to enhancing the Faculty’s image, and discussed expectations for the upcoming semester. Ambassador scholarships were also awarded during the celebration.

Six students who made the most significant contributions to increasing the Faculty’s visibility and implementing communication initiatives were awarded scholarships ranging from €100 to €900, with a total of €2,000 allocated:

  • Austėja Simonaitytė, a third-year student of Lithuanian Philology and Advertising;
  • Benjamin Dieckmann, a second-year student of Financial Analytics;
  • Lukas Atstupėnas, a second-year student of Financial Analytics;
  • Gytis Pieškus, a fourth-year student of Economics and Management;
  • Raminta Počepavičiūtė, a third-year student of Economics and Management;
  • Rimantė Kelpšaitė, a second-year student of Information Systems and Cyber Security (taught in English).

The funding comes from the VU Kaunas Faculty’s endowment sub-fund investment returns. This sub-fund was established in 2023 by the ‘Acme group’. The funds allocated for this semester were intended for students who significantly strengthened the Faculty’s visibility in Kaunas city and Lithuania through various public initiatives, contributions to promoting study programmes, and community-building activities.

The Kaunas Faculty’s dean, Associate Professor Dr Giedrius Romeika, expressed his joy at the students’ involvement and their initiatives during the scholarship award ceremony: “We thank the students who, through their creativity and willingness to act, contribute to the creation of a modern, innovative, and society-oriented University. The results of the Ambassador activities are important not only for our Faculty community but also for students' personal and professional growth. It is also meaningful and symbolic that the sub-fund, established on the initiative of alumni who were active students themselves, continues to promote student leadership today.”

Ambassadors helped organise traditional events, initiated new ones, represented the Kaunas Faculty at study fairs and schools, led activities for pupils, and contributed to communication projects. Their contributions included developing educational projects, presenting the Kaunas Faculty’s history, organising events, and other activities that strengthen the faculty’s visibility and community.

The Ambassador scholarship competition is announced twice a year – in September and February. Students from all undergraduate and master’s study programmes at VU Kaunas Faculty who actively participate in external communication campaigns, promote study programmes, and engage in ambassador activities that enhance the Faculty’s reputation are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed study semesters without academic debts and must not have received any disciplinary sanctions during their studies.
