Provide additional support for organizing the international Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Lithuania. The Olympiad will be held on July 17-24, 2021. It will be attended by around 400 pupils, 300 team leaders and observers from 90 countries.

During the Olympiad, the participants will have to take 3 theoretical and 1 practical examinations, prepared by 11 Vilnius University scientists led by Professor Edmundas Kuokštis.

The first time Lithuanians took part in the IPhO was in 1989, in Warsaw. Since then many Lithuanian pupils have participated in the IPhO, and many of them later studied at Vilnius University, while some of them are currently working at the Faculty of Physicor at the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC).

The physicists of Vilnius University have been contributing to national and international Olympiads from way earlier than 1989. They have been preparing the examinations for National Physics Olympiads and helping pupils to get ready for the IPhO. This is carried out through the Physics Olympus school, which is established at the Faculty of Physics.
